Numero 2: April 26, 2010

Tyler wrote to a friend of his, Anneke, about an experience he has had teaching a convert. Tyler thought it would be enjoyed by all and asked Anneke to send it on.

Anneke,
Wow, that sounds like a great opportunity. i hope everyone goes well with that, and you are able to take up the spirit of temple work. i wanted to tell you about a converso that i had the opportunity to teach and baptize, his name is Mauricio Raul Bernal Jara. he has a family and is about 47 years old. this is a man that has really experienced a change of heart. before he was a man very orgulloso, o sea, prideful. i have never seen a man make such a change, and be so humble of heart. the spirit has wrought a mighty change in his life. and now i think he will be the next stakepresident. well its very cool to teach this family. right now they are all focused on getting sealed in the temple as a family. in less than a year they can do it. and the cool thing is if im still on the mission i will be able to accompany them there, an opportunity not many missionaries have in our mission. so i am very excited for them and the steps they are taking. thank you for writing, it means a lot to me to have your support.
Your friend,
Elder Nelson

Hey Family!! i hope everything is going good and that everyone is healthy and enjoying life. i love the mission and the opportunity we have to serve the Lord. i am doing great and really enjoying the mission. my comp is great and we are working hard and finding people to teach. i hope you're all having family scripture study and family prayer everyday, and family night. i have a great testimony of these things. they work, i have seen them save families and marriages. the gospel is true and Christ lives. i have felt his love and his sacrifice for me in a way so personal and so real, that there is no way that i can deny it. through the atonement of Jesus Christ comes the power to change, to purify our hearts, and be clean and worthy to receive all of the blessings that God has in store for us. i love you guys, and your influence as parents and as brothers and sisters, has made me who i am, and has helped me be an instrument in the hands of God. the other day i found this quote of Joseph Smith, y me gusto, it says:

“I am ready to be offered a sacrifice for this people; for what can our enemies do? Only kill the body and their power is then at an end. Stand firm my friends. Never flinch. Do not seek to save your lives, for he that is afraid to die for the truth will lose eternal life. Hold out to the end; and we shall be resurrected and become like Gods, and reign in celestial kingdoms, principalities and eternal dominions.”

we are truly in a great work. Never flinch. never be afraid to share you testimony with others, to help them receive the truth, and the happiness that we enjoy. thank you for your prayers and the support that you all have shown the Obra misional. les amo!

Con amor,
Elder Nelson

Hey hows it going? things here are great. right now i am very focused in the work. and am very excited to be an instrument in the hands of the lord. i am glad to hear that dad is ok, i have been worried about him and he is in my prayers. i know you have not been giving me information because you want to keep me focused, and thats good thank you very much for that. i will just have to trust that God will protect my family while i am away working in his vineyard. we had transfers today. i am still in the same sector as before, at the end of this transfer i will finish 6 months in independencia. 4 1/2 months was with the same comp. we had a lot of success together, and i will be sad to leave this area and my converts here. this ward has been very good to me, and i have made a lot of friends here. well it sounds like you are all doing well, i hope your family scripture study is going well:) thank you for everything that you have done for me. You and Dad, Jessica, chad, breanna, all of you. i find great joy in the fact that we have a family that can be together forever. i love you all and will talk to you next week.
by the way my new comp. his name is Elder Hola, from fortworth TX , but he is Samoan.

Don't have much time but, im glad dad is ok. You gave me quite a scare, and im not sure what to think. you are all in my thoughts and prayers always. also some members for a lunch one day threw a party for me, and i thought you might like some pictures and i will try and send some videos too. A member in the ward took all these.
